GRUPPO FOLKLORISTICO MONTE PATULO
The "Monte Patulo" Folk Group was founded in Sant'Angelo Romano (Rome) in 1977 with the aim of rediscovering and disseminating the now-lost folk traditions of Sant'Angelo Romano and the province of Rome. It takes its name from the hill on which the ancient "Medullia" (now Sant'Angelo Romano) once stood.
The repertoire is based on songs, dances, and historical reenactments carefully rediscovered and selected by the group members themselves. It consists of approximately 25 members and includes accordion, flute, trumpet, oboe, caccavella, triccheballacche, tambourines, and other percussion instruments typical of central and southern Italy. It is registered in the Regional Register of Private Entities Operating in the Leisure Sector (Regional Council Decree 1 August 1995 no. 1609).
They have performed extensively both in Italy and abroad, receiving unanimous acclaim from audiences and critics alike thanks to the variety and liveliness of their dances.
On March 17, 2011, they were recognized by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities as a "Popular and Amateur Music Group of National Interest."
