Since 1996, Taurano, a town in the province of Avellino, has hosted the "Incontri Internazionali del Folklore," a multi-ethnic festival curated and organized by the Taurano Pro Loco. The Festival, an important event for the socio-cultural and touristic promotion and enhancement of the area, has seen numerous international groups perform over the years, bringing their traditions and cultures to the fore. For approximately seven days, in the first week of August, Taurano experiences this intense folk festival, featuring music, dance, costumes, colors, and the faces of the participating groups. Indeed, the town lives in perfect symbiosis with the hosted groups; thus, the festival, in addition to its purely cultural and traditional significance, becomes a perfect opportunity for welcome and integration.
The event takes place in the charming Villa Comunale, which for the occasion becomes a veritable open-air theater. The Festival and its various groups are presented the day before the shows with a press conference where representatives of the Taurano Proloco welcome the guest groups, presenting them with local and traditional products.
