ASSOCIAZIONE CORO LUIGI VENTURINI
The International Folklore Festival is the longest-running and most popular cultural event held in the city of Tagliacozzo (in the province of L'Aquila) every year during the last weekend of July, a period when the city welcomes the ever-increasing number of tourists and is once again inhabited by the many locals returning home for their summer holidays. In 1979, Angelo Iacomini, then president of the local Tourist Board, a founding member of the "Luigi Venturini" Choir and the very active president of the Tagliacozzo group at the time, had the idea of bringing Italian folk groups to Tagliacozzo, who thus enlivened what was the very first edition of the Festival. From the following year, the Folklore Festival took on an "international" character and has since hosted numerous folk groups from every continent of the world. The event, sponsored by the Municipality of Tagliacozzo, is always organized by the "Luigi Venturini Choir of Maestro Elisa Blasetti." Drawing on their experience, they ensure the best possible welcome for all the folk group members who come to Tagliacozzo to perform in the shows among the people and on stage on the last Saturday and Sunday of July. In 45 editions (the only year without the Festival was 2020 due to the Covid pandemic), countless Italian and foreign groups from Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania have come to Tagliacozzo as Ambassadors of Folk Culture.
