PIZZIFOLK APS

Pizzifolk APS is a folk group founded within the Pizzigoni–Carducci Comprehensive Institute in Catania, inspired by the strong desire of Donato Ciulla, a primary school teacher, to pass on and celebrate Sicilian culture among children and young people.
The adventure began three years ago with a small group of teachers from the institute. Over time, the project has expanded, involving an ever-increasing number of people: students, school staff, teachers from other schools, and external enthusiasts. Today, Pizzifolk APS has become a social promotion association registered with the National Third Sector Register (RUNTS) under no. 158074 and is a point of reference for the dissemination of Sicilian folklore and various artistic and entertainment activities, involving the entire community of the Municipality of Catania.
The group has participated in numerous important events, including the famous "Mandorlo in Fiore," one of the most important folk festivals in the world. Pizzifolk APS has gradually acquired an international dimension, participating in the 2024 International Festival in Bulgaria and in the summer of 2025 in the International Festival of Kosovo and the Balkans, as well as in initiatives promoted by the Municipality of Catania, such as the lighting of the Christmas tree in Piazza Università and entertainment in Santa Claus costumes at the Cannizzaro Children's Hospital. The group has also participated in numerous FOLKLORE events at student meetings organized by the ERASMUS PLUS project.
Pizzifolk APS has also been a guest at traditional fairs and festivals, such as those in Vizzini, Mascalucia, Zafferana Etnea, and many other events throughout Sicily. The group has received invitations to perform in Mexico, Colombia, and will soon perform in Poland, bringing Sicilian culture beyond national borders.
