INTERNATIONAL MUSIC, DANCE, ART, AND FOLKLORE FESTIVAL - CITY OF CAVA DE’ TIRRENI
The flagship event of the Cava de’ Tirreni Flag-Wavers Association, the Festival delle Torri, an international festival of music, dance, art, and folklore, has attracted folk groups from all over the world to Cava de’ Tirreni since 1988.
Over the years, the Festival has seen countless ethnic groups perform on Cava's stage, hailing from Mexico, Spain, Turkey, Greece, Scotland, Poland, the Netherlands, Hungary, Algeria, the United States, Finland, Georgia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, Romania, Thailand, Peru, Polynesia, China, Moldova, Senegal, Panama, Taiwan, Japan, England, the Philippines, Martinique, Argentina, Uganda, Brazil, Cuba, Slovakia, Togo, Colombia, Venezuela, Serbia, Benin, India, Israel, Burkina Faso, Wallis and Futuna, Yakutia, Lithuania, West Papua, South Korea, Buryatia, Santo Domingo, Tuva, Paraguay, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Madagascar, Chile, South Africa, Bolivia, and Guadeloupe. Furthermore, important national music, dance, art, and folklore associations have performed on the Festival stage.
The Festival delle Torri is held annually in compliance with the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, approved on October 20, 2005 by the XXIII General Conference of UNESCO and ratified by Italy with Law No. 19 of February 19, 2007. The festival promotes awareness of the value of cultural diversity, fosters encounters between different folk traditions, and emphasizes the principles and expressions of dialogue between peoples, reaffirming the link between culture, development, and dialogue to ensure world peace and harmonious coexistence among peoples.
