The International Folklore Festival, organized by the Corteo Storico di Giove Association since 1998, takes place at the "Terzo Pimpolari" sports facilities during the third week of July.
The Festival begins on Thursday with the historical reenactment of the Candle Ceremony, a brief ceremony in the church, and the delivery of the Candle by the Priest to the Noble Master of the Castle, who, with his maids, will have the candles lit by the people and carry them to every home as a sign of good luck and protection. After the Ceremony, the procession prepares for the Historical Parade through the streets of the town accompanied by the blaring sound of trumpets and drums, ending at the sports field where flag-wavers, musicians, and medieval dancers perform. The celebration continues with performances by other guest flag-wavers and musicians, and then concludes with the youth after-party event known as "Juvo in Musica," where over the four evenings, young bands and DJs alternate to enliven the warm Festival nights with dancing.
On Friday, the Festival really gets going with performances by guest folk groups at the hostel located near the sports facilities. During the four days of the festival, the sports facilities and the entire town come to life and color, thanks to the presence of folk groups from around the world and their traditions. We have hosted groups from Peru, Mexico, India, Argentina, Africa, Spain, Hungary, Colombia, Russia... and folk groups from all over Italy. Naturally, during the Festival evenings, our Taverna, serving typical local products, is a must, as are other refreshment points throughout the evening, where you can enjoy typical Umbrian specialties, local products, appetizers, drinks, and desserts until late at night.
