ASSOCIAZIONE CORO LUIGI VENTURINI
The "Luigi Venturini Choir of Maestro Elisa Blasetti" was founded in Tagliacozzo (L'Aquila) in February 1972 and operates in the field of folklore within the Italian Federation of Popular Traditions. Since 1979, every year in its hometown of Tagliacozzo, the Choir has organized the "International Folklore Festival," the longest-running summer event in Tagliacozzo, which promotes the peaceful encounter between different popular cultures, which become folkloric spectacles. Thanks to guest groups who come to Tagliacozzo from Italy and every continent, the town center comes alive with a celebration of song, music, color, dance, and costumes that always attracts a large audience. These free performances traditionally take place during the last weekend of July. In 2011, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, the "Luigi Venturini Choir of Maestro Elisa Blasetti" was recognized as a "Popular and Amateur Music Group of National Interest" by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage. This recognition, along with all the other recognitions and the numerous prestigious awards it has received in more than half a century of uninterrupted activity, clearly demonstrates the value of the choir. True to the purposes of its founding statute, it preserves and passes on to younger generations the legacy of its ancestors and that left by the illustrious Tagliacozzo natives whose namesake it bears. The "Venturini-Blasetti" Choir is always active in the rediscovery and research of the most authentic local and Abruzzo folk traditions, transforming them into performances of song, dance, and drama, which evoke moments of yesterday with the aim of preserving the remarkable richness of the folk culture so characteristic of the beautiful region of Abruzzo.
